- Blower fan: The fan moves the air around and into the ductwork system.
- Heating and/or cooling element: To cool the air, the air handler uses a coil filled with refrigerant. During the heating process, the coil is heated with electricity or hot water.
- Filters: Filters prevent dust, pollen and other particles from entering the air duct and improve air quality.
- Humidifier: Air can get dry very quickly from being pushed around and heated or cooled. The humidifier adds moisture and is especially useful in the winter months.
- Mixing box: A mixing box is where the fresh air from outside is recirculated with the indoor air.
